I guess I am going through some kind of cow fetish!  The longhorns are on the road between my house and my son's house.  I pass them often and stop to photograph them  They are magnificent.  I liked the color of the other cow, almost red.

Think Spring and Summer!  Zinnias are one of my favorites because a few seeds sprinkled here and there add so much color.  And the butterflies love them.  

I had an unusual size piece of watercolor paper left over from another painting.  Not being one to waste anything, especially art supplies. I looked through many photos and put some things together and came up with this striking composition.

I think my grandson spends most of his summer underwater, so I put him in his natural environment.  He will probably grow gills.  I also took his suggestion to make the water look like it was splashing around.  He has a great eye and is becoming an artist in his own right at age 6.

I went to watch the young dancers at DeJul School of Dance and began a few paintings of what I observed there.  It took a while to get the girls to relax and forget I was there.  They want to "pose" and I was looking for a more relaxed image.

Tis The Season

There is something nice about cold, wet, snowy weather.  I know I am probably one of the few people who feel this way, but I am a captive in my studio when the weather is bad and I love that.  

I have been busy this week finishing 2 paintings, both with a winter theme.  I am feeling very productive.  A few more Winter paintings and then maybe I will think Spring and and paint some flowers.  Either way, I am glad to be stuck inside with my watercolors.

The idea for this painting came as we watched my granddaughter splashing in the puddles.  Watching her move up and down with the joy that only a 2-year-old has, was fascinating.  She doesn't need fancy toys, just a large wet surface. I hope we all have just a bit of that joy.
