Duck Decoys
One day while out antiquing, I walked into a very dark, old barn filled with all sorts of interesting items. These duck decoys sat on a ledge by a window. The sun was bright and warm and beyond the barn was a barnyard with chickens. The contrast of the dark inside and the bright outside caught my eye and I snapped several photos for future paintings.
The Old Timer
Another place I am drawn to is junkyards. I love to see old rusty machinery. The structure and textures fascinate me. I am sure this old car was a prized possession in its day. Now it a sat in the scrapyard with other broken, rusty relics.

Legs
At the Outer Banks last summer and saw the birds watching the water, all facing the same direction. The verticals of their legs and the horizontal of their bodies was a great composition.

I am thrilled to be included in the group of outstanding artists who will be exhibiting at the new Brath & Hughes Fine Art Gallery. I will be there on Friday, December 2nd, for their grand opening. This is one of the paintings that will be exhibit at the gallery.

I have been away so much lately that it seems like I haven't had much actual painting time. I was in Baton Rouge and New Orleans for a week and then went to Jamaica. But I did get lots of photos for paintings. Everywhere I went I saw so many great things to paint. I shot hundreds of photos and now I am going to need to sort through then and find some good material to paint.
In the meantime, I am going to post some of the paintings that I have worked on before my travels.
